FAQ: What type of counter tops do you recommend? Well, the answer is….it depends. It depends on your budget, what your requirements are and what goes with the rest of the room.
Slab granite or quartz are probably the most popular. Laminate countertops are also a lower cost option especially for laundry rooms.
Both Granite and quartz require maintenance, with granite requiring more than quartz. Quartz does not need initial or continued sealing. Granite needs to be sealed upon installation, and then again on a regular basis. Quartz, which is an engineered stone, has the flaws engineered out. Due to the presence of the resins, quartz counters are less prone to staining. Natural slab granite, for all its beauty, has flaws and imperfections that homeowners either love, accept, or hate. Still, if the natural stone look is what you are after then you will probably gravitate to granite. individuals who like symmetry or consistency may like the look of quartz more.
